5 day instagram challenge

5 day instagram challenge day #4

If you'd rather listen to today's challenge, just hit play below.

Today I'm showing you how you can get your followers to do the hard work for you. How you can get your ideal customer coming to you while you sit and twiddle your thumbs.

Seriously, this isn't a joke.

I've figured out a way to get them flocking to me. When I implement this next strategy I'm about to show you, I instantly gain 10-15% more followers that day.

What's my secret?

.... quotes with a call to action!

Seriously, Instagrammers love their quotes.

I once posted a quote that said "Tag a mother that's doing an amazing job". My followers started tagging all their friends and family, getting over 500 comments.

You know how many followers I gained that day? About 75 just from one post. That's seriously insane. And they weren't just random people, they were all mothers (which is exactly my target audience).

So here's what you need to do

Step #1

Create your own quote you know your ideal audience will LOVE and can relate to (funny ones seem to do best) or search Pinterest or Google for one.

Use an app that you can add text to an image or background with (I use WordSwag), post your image and in the caption, tell your followers to tag 3 friends they know would appreciate it.

I'll give you an example.

 /* Style Definitions */
	{mso-style-name:"Table Normal";
	mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt;
Tag three mommy friends below because sometimes, we just need a reminder.

Tag three mommy friends below because sometimes, we just need a reminder.

Action Item: Create an image of a quote and ask your followers to tag a friend or two. Don't ask them to tag any more than 3 friends. Otherwise, you're asking for too much.

Step #2

When you post your quote, be sure to comment with 20 specific hashtags that are specific to your target audience.

A little trick I like to use it to use hashtags I know influencers or major websites in my niche are using. This can result in a larger account reposting your quote and causing it to go viral.

For example: I'll use hashtags that I know major accounts use that pertain to my quote. Something like #HuffPostParents #BuzzFeedParents #ParentingLikeWhoa.

Because I've done this, I've had a few of my quotes go viral by being shared more than 22,000 times!!!!!!!!

Action Item: Use quote specific hashtags in hopes that a larger account picks it up and reposts it.

Step #3

Continue to use the strategy you learned in day one. Engaging at least 4 times throughout the day with a targeted group of people with a specific hashtag.

Alright, just one more day until this epic challenge is wrapped up. Are you doing everything you can to meet your goal?

I want so badly to see you succeed. I can't wait to get an email from you at the end of this challenge with your results.

Remember, you need to gain 20 new followers today... you got this! I totally believe in you babe.

IG Challenge Day #3

iF YOU'd like to listen to today's challenge, just hit play below.

Okay, today is all about that hashtag love. You see everyone else using them so you started using them too... awesome right? WRONG!

Using hashtags just to use hashtags is NOT a strategy you should be using. You have to be strategic. We're going for the quality of followers, not quantity.

Here's how you can make sure you're on the right track:

Step #1

Instagram only allows 30 hashtags to be used per post. I recommend using about half of that (so around 20), otherwise you can look too needy. Those 20 hashtags need to be specific to your niche. You have to stop using generally used and over populated hashtags. Remember, we're targeting a specific type of person here, someone who's already looking for what you can offer them.

Make a list of 20 hashtags that are specific to your product, blog or services. A great way to do this is to take a look at an influencer in your niche, or another brand in your industry, and write down the hashtags they're using. This will help get you going in the right direction.

For example: I sell children's clothing ages 6M - 4Y. So instead of using hashtags like #love #cute #instagood (which can reach TONS of random people), I'm going to use hashtags like #toddlerlife #momblog #handmade #usamade #haremleggings #babyleggings etc.

Using the right hashtags can drastically expand your post reach outside of your current following and hit a specific targeted audience.

If I post an image of a kid in our Blood Orange joggers, I might use the hashtags: #bloodorange #joggers #modernkid #toddlerlife, etc.

If I'm posting a funny mom quote, I might use the hashtags: #momlife #toofunny #momquote #parentlife #ihavekids, etc.

I think you get the point.

I've started implementing a little trick that makes every time I post... a breeze. Instead of having to remember these lists and writing them out every time I post something.

Make 3-4 different hashtag lists (depending on how many different types of posts you share), and save them in your phone under NOTES. Then you just copy and paste the list in the comments. Easy Peasy!

P.S. DO NOT post your hashtags in the caption of your post, insert them into a comment after you've already posted your image.

For example, I have a list of hashtags for quotes, I have another list for behind the scenes and business posts, I have another list for health posts and I have another list for mommy and me posts (where we share images of mothers with their children).

Action Item: Make 3-4 different lists of specific and targeted hashtags you can use for any given photo you may post at any given time. And do away with the general #love and #cute hashtags.

Step #2

Continue to implement what you learned in Day #1 of this challenge. Engaging in targeted communities by searching specific hashtags and liking and commenting on other peoples posts. I've found that for every 60 random likes or comments I do, I get about 4 new followers.

Alright, I know you're hashtag lists are going to be awesome for your brand and I can't wait to see how your engagement goes up from this. You're totally rocking this challenge, keep up the awesome work!

IG Challenge Day #2

If you'd like to listen to today's challenge, just hit play below.

Step #1

Get a blank piece of paper and write as large as you can with a black marker, the number 20 and tape it on your desk, mirror, bedroom wall... somewhere that you'll walk passed it multiple times a day. You'll need a little reminder here and there to nudge you towards your goal.

Action Item: Repeat the following sentence to yourself multiple times a day... "I will gain 20 new IG followers today". And write the number 20 on a piece of paper and hang it up!

Step #2

Go announce your Instagram account to all other social media platforms you use... Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Periscope, etc.

People can't follow you if they don't know you're on Instagram. Go ahead and post an announcement on your personal Facebook page too asking your friends & family to come follow you.

Something like... "Hey guys! In case you didn't already know, I'm on Instagram! I'm trying to build my account and would LOVE it if you went and followed me @XYZ. Thanks ;)"

Action Item: Announce on your Facebook, Periscope, Pinterest & Twitter your Instagram handle asking people to go follow you, trust me, people are more inclined to do it, if you simply ask them to. Make sure to include your personal accounts in this step.

Step #3

We need to whip your profile pic and bio in shape so people WANT to follow you!!!

If you're using your logo as your profile pic, now's the time to change it. People connect more with other humans, not logos. They're more inclined to follow you if they feel like they're connecting with an actual person. This will make a huge difference in the amount of new followers you get.

Unless you're McDonald's or Nike, a headshot will work perfectly... or a lifestyle shot of a person using your product. If you need help, make sure to checkout THIS post to push you in the right direction.

Action Item: Fix up your profile pic and bio. Get it ready to make new friends. It's your first impression.

Step #4

Continue to implement what you learned in day #1, searching hashtags and engaging in those communities daily. Do NOT stop doing that step, It's what will gain you the most new followers.

Alright, you got this. Get out there and keep kicking IG ass!

5 day instagram challenge day #1

If you'd rather listen to today's challenge, just hit play below.

Step #1

100 new followers can sound daunting (especially in just 5 days). So let's break this down into a much more achievable goal. Here's what you need to do.

Take 100 and divide that by 5 days... that brings us to 20.

20 is your NEW favorite number. You have to gain 20 new followers a day in order to meet your goal. Don't worry, you got this.

Now open up Instagram and write down how many followers you have right now. You can put this in your phone if you'd like, but make sure you know how many you're starting with. (you can also use Iconosquare for an exact number).

Action Item: Remember the number 20 (20 new followers a day). And take note of how many followers you currently have.

Step #2

Figure out where your ideal customers are hanging out, and go say hello to as many people as you can!

I like to think of Instagram as a HUGE conference filled of people ready to buy my products or read my blog. You just have to get out there and introduce yourself.

No one will ever know about your brand if you stay sitting in your chair and keep to yourself right? If you do that, you're missing out on a HUGE opportunity here.

So get up and go engage!!!! Same thing goes for IG babe.

So here's what you need to do.

  • Make a list of 3 hashtags you KNOW your ideal audience is using. A good cheat tip: click on someone who's already following you and see what hashtags they're using. This will give you a good idea of where your people are hanging out. Examples: #momlife #camping #diy #smallbiz #travel #greensmoothie
  • Pick one of those hashtags and search it. Now go mingle! Leave genuine comments on these photos. DO NOT leave the same comment on every photo... that's called spam yo! It's just not cool.
  • Go back and forth between comments and likes. FYI you're only allowed to like up to 60 photos an hour before IG boots you out. So make sure you're staying under that limit.
  • Honestly, you're going to want to do this as often as possible throughout the day. But here's a great way to break it up. Set an alarm on your phone for at least 4 times throughout the day (ex. 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 8PM) and take about 10-15 minutes to go engage in these hashtag communities.
  • Repeat the last 3 steps every time your alarm goes off using a different hashtag each time.
  • I've found that for every 60 likes or comments I do with these targeted hashtags, I get about 4 new IG followers.

Here's the thing, people LOVE getting likes and comments on their posts. They'll see that you comment and think... who is this person? Do I know them? They'll click on your profile to check you out. If they like what they see, they're going to give you a FOLLOW!.

Trust me, today's challenge is GOLD. Get through today and you'll be surprised on how many new followers you gain just by implementing this ONE thing.

The best part about this, is that you're not just gaining a bunch of random followers. You're gaining followers that you already know could be potential customers or readers of yours because they're using those relevant hashtags.

Gaining a bunch of followers just for the numbers won't do crap for you if they aren't buying right? This step will ensure you're only attracting people you know are interested in your niche.

Side Note: the more you do this throughout the day. The more followers you'll gain.

Action Item: Set an alarm on your phone for 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, & 8PM and take about 10-15 minutes to go engage in your communities.  Searching a different hashtag each time then rotating back. (if those times don't work for you just pick 4 times throughout the day).

Alright, you got this Gangsta Boss. Remember, it's definitely possible if you put in the work.

Make sure you're following along on Periscope too @Lot801. There you can ask me any questions you might have.
